Minor factions cannot be directly controlled by you, but can be traded with or conquered.

Marauders

Society of anarchical scavengers where the powerful stay in control by pitting their underlings against each other. They idolize the Drengin (mostly from viewing war propaganda and blood sports) but are dismissive toward other races. They aren't a single species but a mix of war survivors, rebels, criminals and pirates from across the universe.

Dark Yor

The Yor believe that organic life is inferior to their own. But the Dark Yor are more aggressive than that; they believe that organic life is a plague on the universe and the only cure is eradication.

Burran

A peaceful species who believes that a series of 7 "rigors" will cause them to be elevated to a godlike existence. Each rigor takes many years to accomplish and only the first (-1) of these can be performed on their home planet, afterwards they explore the universe pursuing their tasks.

Snathi

These guys are E-V-I-L! It's rumored that the Dread Lords, in a last ditch effort to destroy the Arnorians in the epic Battle of Kalis-Yu', focused all their dark energy, malice, and hatred into an army of war-hungry demons... the SNATHI! Now, after billions of years hoarding their proverbial 'Nuts', the Snathi have metaphorically 'climbed out of their tree' and will 'gnaw the galaxy with their big squirrel-like teeth'... so to speak.

The Snathi are an ancient race of extremely intelligent and bloodthirsty squirrel-like creatures. They were created by the Dread Lords as the ultimate weapon, but were locked away… until now.

The Snathi have risen from the ashes of their Precursor prison world. They have only one goal: revenge. The Snathi have vowed to put down those who kept them from taking from their rightful place as the heirs of the Dread Lords.

No race is safe from the true face of EVIL... even if it is as cute as a button.

Gaulox

After being sterilized by planetary radiation this species directed all of their research toward life extending technology. Before the radiation storm, an early space exploration vessel left the planet and they now search for that ship in the hopes that it still contains some fertile members of their species, or the descendants of them.

Kaxx Collective

They believe their home world is the cocoon for a sleeping creature and they were placed on the planet to guard her. One day they believe the creature will awake and either spread new life across the universe or kill everyone.

Odair Conclave

Extreme nihilists counting down the moments until the universe succumbs to the eventual pull of entropy. Believe the Krynn in particular are the most foolish (for their faith) but are hard pressed to be enthused about anyone. There is a black hole at the edge of their galaxy, "The Yawning Mouth of God" that they delight in sending elaborate constructions into.

Exis Empire

For the Exis all activity is measured against the passing of the "Tear of Heaven" comet, which enters their solar systems once every 17 local years. Children born during this year are thought to be gifted, and those that die are thought to be blessed to the point where births and deaths outside of these years are rare.

Klepart

The first united technical achievement of their species was the creation of a great beacon tower to send their call out into space. A few days after turning it on an answer was received, a fleet of warships appeared in orbit above their world and raiders were sent down to collect every child on their homeworld. And then the raiders were gone. An entire generation of the Klepart was lost. The next generation has now grown old enough to begin exploring space on their own, but they remain fearful that the raiders will return, and hopeful that they will someday find the children that were stolen from them.

Lantern

A young but promising race until early galactic traders introduced them to euphoric vapors that were enjoyed by other species but deeply addictive to the Lantern. Now the Lantern society is dominated by the search for additional sources of the drug and all citizens are kept on it at all times.

Gossamer

This species is based on the study and rumors of the ascension crystals to the point where they have developed an extreme (and nearly unfathomable) mythology around the crystals and any who would interact with them.

Orphica Enclave

The Orphica Enclave are a minor faction in Galactic Civilizations III. They were designed by Psiyon as part of the Faction design contest and was the winning entry.

Contrary to the general assumptions of uninformed galactic citizens, the Orphic Prime unit puppeteering the so-called "Orphic Enclave" is not a sentient artificial intelligence. An ancient experiment in genetic programming algorithms gone hellishly wrong, the long-extinct inhabitants of Orpheus have long since had their brain matter repurposed, expanding the Prime unit's computational power to Godlike proportions. Recently, the Orphic Prime unit has learned to exploit the galactic tourism industry: individuals are plugged in to perfect virtual reality while the idle portions of their mind add to the Prime unit's power.

The more computational power the Orphic Prime unit has available, the more power it has over the landscape of Orpheus. Although its power grows slowly, over time, Orpheus can become a galactic powerhouse.

Brainy'ak Collective<

The Brainy'aks are a minor faction that is activated by a Mega Event. They are only available through the purchase of the Mega Events DLC.

An ancient civilization that has spent the last millennia focusing on technology, Now that they have been exposed to the broader galactic community, the Brainy'ak find them self's unable to compete militaristically, and try and maintain their sovereignty though the trade of their precious technologies.

The Dread Lords are a special faction that is activated by a Mega Event. They are only available through the purchase of the Mega Events DLC.

The Mega Event will only trigger after 100 Turns and will spawn in the Dread Lords with a single planet.
