Artifacts

Artifacts are a kind of Anomaly that are handled somewhat differently to Space Junk and Capsules, granting the player access to a powerful one-use item, often with an option to sell them it off for Credits.

There are many different Artifacts to collect during the game, and more than one of each type can be stored simultaneously. Once claimed, Artifacts are stored in “The Vault” indefinitely, and can be played either immediately, or during any of the player’s subsequent turns.

To activate an Artifact, simply click on “The Vault”, select the artifact you want and then click on the target, whether that be a hex, a fleet, a planet or something else will depend on the device in question.

In the screenshot above, the player has activated the Nanite Transmitter to spawn a warship next to an enemy fleet by clicking on the target hex.

As you can see, Artifacts can give the player a powerful boost at a pivotal moment in the game, and their careful application can often be decisive in a hard-fought campaign.
