The Contaminant represent a faction in Galactic Civilizations IV. They are led by Cthu'Neophate.

The sentience of the Cosmic Contaminant is easily questioned. It is unknown whether they have moved to space as a conscious effort or an impulse to spread. Their genomes are unstable and change frequently. They rose from a system of radiated worlds where most races would suffer slow and painful deaths.

The Cosmic Contaminant changes quickly and easily adapts to harsh climates. They excel at production, benefiting from the pollution produced by high Manufacturing. They have little sway in diplomacy and are unlikely to find allies.

<h2>History</h2>
From the outside, there is no unifying culture, language, or even genetic heritage that bonds the Cosmic Contaminant. The group evolved (for lack of a better word) on a highly radiated planet. In an environment all other recorded life would wither, they thrived. Their presence on the cosmic stage seems more akin to a tumor than anything else.Their ships hybridize the biological and synthetic, many of the vessels fused with unrecorded monstrosities. Every aspect of the Cosmic Contaminant borders on the impossible to comprehend.

Irradiated citizens evolve if given enough time, each evolution more capable than the last. At the starting Amoeba stage, they reproduce frequently and are quick to evolve but are poor workers.
