Bellow are all the major civilizations in the game, along with their respective abilities, traits and personalities. Terran AllianceMain article: Terran Alliance Terrans are the inventors of the hyperdrive engine and one of the youngest species on the galactic stage. Although committed diplomats, Terrans have a militaristic streak that has taken many by surprise.
Drengin EmpireMain article: Drengin Empire The Drengin are a profoundly evil and warlike civilization. Exceedingly clever and vicious, there are few beings capable of meeting a Drengin and not becoming its next meal.
Altarian ResistanceMain article: Altarian Resistance Altarians are a deeply religious species that are kind in their interaction with others, although a bit self-righteous. For unknown reasons, they are very similar in appearance to the Terrans.
Terran ResistanceMain article: Terran Resistance Requires: Crusade expansion The Terran Resistance are the portion of humanity that wasn't trapped on Earth behind the Precursor Shield. Years on the run has made them resourceful but hard, and formed a schism with the rest of humanity which might take some time to heal.
Iridium CorporationMain article: Iridium Corporation The Iridium are an ultra capitalistic civilization, ruled by a number of multi-planet corporations. Firm believers in the power of free markets, they specialize in economic and cultural growth.
Krynn SyndicateMain article: Krynn Syndicate The Krynn are a coalition of species deeply united by a shared religion. In recent years a secretive arm of their faith has taken control of their government, and its Shadow Network now spans the galaxy.
Onyx HiveMain article: Onyx Hive Requires: Crusade expansion The Onyx Hive are a technologically sophisticated worm-like species that originated around the volcanic vents of their homeworld. Their society thrives on backstabbing and intrigue. They are natural spies.
Yor SingularityMain article: Yor Singularity The Yor are a species of sapient artificial beings. They have no need for crude means of reproduction and consumption, and can instead build citizens to inhabit their worlds.
Iconian RefugeMain article: Iconian Refuge Servants of the Precursors and one of the first species to reach the stars, the Iconians are now locked in a bitter struggle with their own creations, the Yor.
SlyneMain article: Slyne Requires: Crusade expansion The Slyne are gelatinous beings capable with a natural understanding of technology, who use a variety of cybernetic limbs and enhancements to project their will. Fickle and hard to kill, it's probably best to stay on their good side.
Thalan ContingencyMain article: Thalan Contingency The Thalan Contingency have come from another universe, in the hopes of stopping what they call The Terran Crusade. Which they believe will lead to the destruction of the universe if left unchecked.
Torian RegimeMain article: Torian Regime Requires: Mercenaries expansion Twice made slaves of the Drengin Empire. The Torians now strive to rebuild their once great civilization. Though still untrusting of other species, they are willing to work with even the most undesirable forces to secure their future.
Arcean EmpireMain article: Arcean Empire Requires: Mercenaries expansion The Acrean Empire is a noble species with a rich history of neutrality. Liberated by the Terran Alliance, they now strive to rebuild their Empire. Vowing to never be subjugated again, they now honor their warriors above all others.
ScryveMain article: Scryve Requires: Villains of Star Control: Origins DLC Centaur-like bureaucrats hell-bent on keeping order in the galaxy even if it means genocide.
Drath LegionMain article: Drath Legion Requires: Retribution expansion Mysterious creatures who love to move in the shadows, the Drath are masters of subterfuge and manipulation. Rumored to be behind every major conflict in the galaxy, though it's just as likely they spread those rumors themselves.
TywomMain article: Tywom Requires: Heroes of Star Control: Origins DLC A friendly, maybe too-friendly species of intelligent slugs. Damp, sticky, and up for anything.
Mu'KayMain article: Mu'Kay Requires: Heroes of Star Control: Origins DLC A species of intelligent cephalopods. Friendly, benevolent, and a little bit condescending, they are the founders of the Federation of Allied Species.
PhamyshtMain article: Phamysht Requires: Villains of Star Control: Origins DLC Heavily muscled creatures that dangle from ceilings. They take great delight in art, culture, and devouring other sapient lifeforms.
United EarthMain article: United Earth Requires: Rise of the Terrans DLC The United Earth government, the forerunner of the Terran Alliance. Considered naive by the rest of the galaxy, they will soon prove to be a force to be respected, with their innovative spirit and willingness to do what must be done to survive.
Snathi RevengeMain article: Snathi Revenge Requires: Revenge of the Snathi DLC The most evil sect of an already evil species, the Snathi Revenge has spent the last millennia imprisoned by the Precursors on a distant world. Free at last, they will show the galaxy the true face of evil.
The MeasuredMain article: The Measured Requires: Villains of Star Control: Origins DLC Sapient coral, and the nearest thing to a living computer. Extremely capable when it comes to organization, coordination, regulation, and, of course, repetition.
MowlingsMain article: Mowlings Requires: Heroes of Star Control: Origins DLC A species of small, accident-prone, and fervently religious weasel-like creatures. Maybe ferret-like. Vole-like? Their religion centers on the worship of an enormously powerful alien. His name is Jeff.
Korath ClanMain article: Korath Clan Requires: Retribution expansion The Korath Clan is made up from formerly elite Drengin warriors, who differentiated themselves from their brethren by both the ferocity of their desire to wipe out non-Drengin species and their ability to actually do so.
XrakiMain article: Xraki Requires: Villains of Star Control: Origins DLC Creatures from another dimension, they seem to serve no purpose. Pure servants of anarchy. If it can be killed, they will kill it. Or they might not. Hard to tell with these guys.
Free TrandalsMain article: Free Trandals Requires: Heroes of Star Control: Origins DLC The free remnants of a species of powerful warriors, whose brethren remain controlled by a malevolent AI. The Free Trandals struggle to hold on to their freedom while rebuilding their culture from scratch.
